Challenge
A large in-home health care provider had approximately 200 health care aides who worked with elderly patients. These aides were managed via a 3rd party solution called HomeTrak for billing purposes, but this system was lacking the kind of web-based schedule management that the customer desired. Unstoppable was hired by this company to build a web calendar application where employees could access and see their schedules, accept and approve their assigned shifts, and report on their final worked hours completely online and via their mobile device. This system was integrated with HomeTrak so that the same process could be followed for Medicare billing, so Unstoppable built a HIPAA compliant back-end processing system to transfer the schedule data between these two systems.
Results
The web application was developed on the Microsoft stack using ASP.NET, SQL Server, C# and javascript, and was deployed successfully on schedule. Employees could use the system to be more self-managed, which meant fewer calls to admin staff to fix minor schedule problems, and ultimately much lower overhead costs for the customer.
Additionally, this system was integrated with Twilio, a 3rd party texting API, so that employees could text their time and schedule information into the home office. This ability to text and then pull the text data into the system meant fewer phone calls and meant that low-level employees who only had “flip phones” could still use the system.
